Jack Parsons was a co-founder of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and a key pioneer in American rocketry. While developing some of the most important chemical propulsion systems of the 20th century, he was simultaneously a high-ranking member of Aleister Crowley’s Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO) and leader of the Agape Lodge in Pasadena, California.

The Babalon WorkingIn 1946, Parsons conducted the infamous Babalon Working — a series of sex magick rituals performed with L. Ron Hubbard (future founder of Scientology). Their goal was to shatter dimensional barriers and incarnate the Thelemic goddess Babalon (the Scarlet Woman) into the physical world.
